Tapping on the Sensation Lowers It. It Won't Change the Operating System.

Someone asked: can you tap on the sensations only? If you can't connect the dots, can you still make a change?

Yes. And here is the honest answer about what that actually does.

Tapping on today's sensation (the tight chest, the panic in the airport, the reaction you can't explain) will lower it. You can dissipate how you feel in the moment. You can talk to your brain. Say "you're okay, it's all okay." That works.

But lowering the reaction today may not change what caused it. You can reduce the feeling without changing the operating system underneath it.

Here is the thing that surprises most people though. When you start working on how you feel now, your mind will start popping things up. A memory. A connection that makes no logical sense. People say "I don't know if this is related" — and it is related. Every time.

Today's reactions are metaphors. They are pointing back to something. You have to be a detective of your own inner resources. Follow what comes up. Clean up what surfaces. That is how you get from lowering a reaction to actually changing what keeps creating it.

Work is often a metaphor for home. For school. For the feelings you carried in those rooms as a kid. Clean up that history and what happens today starts to shift for real.
