Here is the question I spent years trying to answer about myself.
Why am I like this?
Why do I keep ending up in the same situations, the same relationships, the same reactions no matter how much I know, how much I've read, how hard I try?
And the answer when I finally found it was not what any of the experts were offering.
It wasn't my genes. It wasn't my astrology sign. It wasn't blocked energy or my ego or the fact that I'm from Oklahoma.
It was this...
When you are born into the world your brain does one thing immediately and completely. It internalizes the world it finds itself in. Not the world as it actually is. The world as it was presented to you in that specific home, with those specific people, in that specific emotional atmosphere.
If the house was full of fighting, the brain learned the world is not safe. If the house was full of chaos, the brain learned you have to stay on guard. If the house was full of emotional toxicity, the brain learned that is just what the world is.
And it built a model. A map. A survival skill perfectly tailored to that environment.
And then you grew up. Left the house. Started a new life. And brought every single piece of that map with you. Because the brain doesn't know you moved. It is still navigating from the same model it built when you were five years old (in that house, with those people, in that jungle).
And that is why the patterns repeat. Not because something is fundamentally wrong with you. Because the operating system is still running the original program. And programs, when you know how to address them at the right level can be updated.
What is one pattern in your life that you've noticed keeps showing up no matter what you do? Drop it in the comments. Let's look at it together. 👇
