I Can't Find the Emotional Link to My Food Sensitivities – Part 2

Continuing the conversation with Danielle who'd followed my work for years and still couldn't find the emotional connection to her food sensitivities.

Here's what I told her...

Emotion is only one fifth of memory. The brain also records the visual, the taste, the smell, the sound. All five get stored together. So when you say "I have no emotional connection", you may be checking one senses and missing four others.

Bloating is a physical memory. A kinesthetic response. And to change it, you have to go into the memories and references connected to that food. Adjust the visual memory, the taste memory, the smell memory, the auditory memory, not just the emotion.

I also asked her: if that food were a person in your family, who would it represent? That's the question that opens the real door. It could be a grandmother. A cultural root. A relationship. Something that ended. The brain links food to experience, always.

And then there's the watermelon girl. She was a champion. Loved watermelon more than anything. Won a competition. Then she drank something else alongside it, got sick, and looked at what came up. Watermelon was in it. One image. One moment. From that day on, allergic reaction every time.

That's how fast the brain files something as dangerous. And that's exactly how it can be changed.

Part 3 is coming, this conversation isn't finished yet.
