You Don't Need 15 Years of Somatic Work. You Need One Memory.

Tightness, anxiety, a panic attack. That's a symptom. It is not the cause.

Four minutes at the Matterhorn, in the cold, on the one thing that decides whether any of this works.

Somatic work calms you down. So does cheesecake. So does a cigarette. Calming down is a change of physical state, and a change of physical state is not a change. Nothing got updated. That's why people run the practices for fifteen years and still have the thing they started with.

The cause is a memory. Your brain built it to protect you, it holds you in alignment with what you already survived, and it will keep expressing it until somebody updates the reference. Change the memory, change the reason, change the cause. After that the practices are a bonus instead of a life sentence.

Consciously you notice the tightness. Noticing is not reaching. The noticing happens at the expression, and the expression is the end of the line, not the start of it.

ABOUT THE VAGUS NERVE

The vagus nerve is neutral. The body sends a message up to the brain, the brain sends a message down to the body. It's a communication highway, and it runs both ways. Fears and anxieties built out of memory references go down that highway. So do happy thoughts — think of a good one and watch the vagus nerve build it in your body. The nerve isn't the problem, and calming it isn't the fix. It's doing exactly what it was built to do, faithfully, in both directions, with whatever you hand it.

WHAT'S IN THIS ONE

Why intention decides the outcome before you go anywhere near a memory
Symptom versus cause, and why the body's reaction is an expression and not a source
Somatic work, tapping, neuroplasticity, breathwork — what they each do and exactly where they stop
Why fifteen years of practice can leave the reference untouched
The vagus nerve as a two-way highway instead of a dial you turn down
Why your brain does not think your panic attack is a problem
The faithful servant and the intelligent idiot, working at the same time
The eleven key points of updating a memory, and which one everybody skips

There are eleven parts to doing this completely. Updating the memory is one of them and it's the one that gets left out. I teach all eleven in the trainings below.

To your brain this was never a problem. It's a survival system, accumulating, organizing and expressing what kept you alive, aimed at keeping you safe from a situation you are no longer in. It doesn't know that handing you anxiety and a panic attack today is a bad idea. Based on the references it has, it looks like a good idea.

You're not broken. You're not screwed up. You had experiences, and it's time to get a good update so you don't have to re-experience them.

1:53 To your brain it was never a problem, it's a survival system

2:44 You're not broken, you're not screwed up

3:15 Take control of your mind, take control of your life

People bring this to physical pain, sports performance, relationships and money. Same mechanism every time, because it's the same brain running it.

If you've done years of somatic work, breathwork and nervous system regulation and the thing keeps coming back, this is the piece nobody handed you. Insight explains the program. Updating the memory changes it.

Work on you, work on you, work on you.
