Shaking it off doesn't release the trauma. 👉 Free Course: https://skillstochange.mn.co/.../1872620 The body is a speaker attached to the stereo. The stereo is your memory and your brain utilizing what it captured. They show these videos where a bear or a deer has a trauma, and then they shake it off. And we're giving, we're translating the meaning of that. If a deer or a bear had the same trauma we have experienced, shaking off doesn't release the trauma. It may change how they physically feel now, but the traumatic education is still in the brain. That means now they're gonna jump faster and move quicker when they see you arrive, because you tried to hurt them. I call it the shake-a-leg system — where you try to create a shaking in your body, thinking that it will release the trauma. It may make you feel better. You may spend 30 minutes shaking and say, "Well, that was a great experience." But does it actually change the memory? There's key points — there's a real science to updating memory. You're stressed out, you feel really bad, and you're gonna roll your ears and sing Happy Birthday. Does that release the trauma? It diverts your attention away from how you feel. Remember, the body is an innocent servant.
