The brain is designed for survival. The pain drives you more than the positive. 👉 Free Course: https://skillstochange.mn.co/.../1872620 When the good dog and the bad dog meet, guess which one wins? The bad dog. The one who has the most resources. If inside of you, you have lots of resources of feeling like crap, blaming yourself, you're guilty, you're a bad person, it's all your fault — create the pretty picture, but when life hits you in the face, you're gonna go to whichever is the best coping skill internalized. If it's the bad one, you'll feel bad forever. Unless you update it. 'Cause remember, the brain is designed for survival. The pain drives you more than the positive. Unless you dissipate the pain to where it's not there, you'll make wiser decisions. I started doing this work in 1999, and I had people come in and they're depressed. "How do you know you're depressed?" "Well, I just feel bad." "Do you have any good reasons why you should be depressed?" "Oh yeah, lots of reasons." "Do you have any positive memories?" "Well, yeah, I think there's gotta be something in here." So in their mind, they keep all the negative close. They practice it every day. When they wake up, they look for it. When they go somewhere, they look for it. So they're building an identity and a world based on their internalizations. You cannot run from the bad, because the bad's inside you. You gotta dismantle it, update it, and change it. And then we need to practice the other. We dismantle that, and we do the happy journal, or the manifestation journal. We do the exact same thing we used to do with the bad stuff. Something good happened, you notice it, you identify it, you replay it, you rehearse it. Collect them. Then your life will reflect whichever one you feed the most. This is the power of neuroplasticity and cleaning up your head.
