Going up, I kept thinking I was almost there, but it was just another plateau. By the time I got up there, I thought, “God I'm gonna have to live up here I can't get back down.” Coming down, I could see how far down the ground was. “Oh shit I could fall.” Then I caught myself. “Mm we're not playing that game.” At the bottom, I heard a woman say she didn't know she had a fear of heights. She'd been imagining falling and worrying about who would raise her kids. You play scary stories. You imagine bad scenarios.
