To the brain, it's not bad. It's not good. It's just an experience. 👉 Free Course: https://skillstochange.mn.co/.../1872620 Trauma is positive and negative. There's a lot of positive traumas — feeling loved is a positive trauma. We have been trained that trauma is ugly and bad. To the brain, trauma is not ugly and bad. It's just survival and love. Having a surprise birthday party and you feel special and important — that's a positive traumatic experience. You're a little girl, and you go to school, and you're learning how to write your name, and if you do it wrong you get a red mark — that's basically a mini trauma. You did something wrong, so you need to learn to do it differently. If you made really great grades, you get a star. These are positive trauma, negative trauma. This is how our brains learn. You learn how to ride a bike, you fall off, you hurt yourself — that's a trauma. It's an education. Some people fall off the bike and say, "Screw this bike," and throw it across the bridge and walk home. Other people will say, "No, I need to learn how to ride this bike, 'cause I feel like it's gonna give me something I want." Our brain learns with fractions, little pieces, and it puts all the fractions together. Now you've got panic attacks and anxiety. Now you love art, and you love swimming, and you love talking to people. These are all experiences. Mini traumas. Positive traumas. That built an outcome. To your brain, it's just an outcome. It's not bad. It's not good. It's survival.
